From the RSC:
Update from the House Republican Study Committee (RSC)
Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chairman
On October 3, 2008, the House adjourned subject to the call of the Chair. Although no official word has been given, it is likely that the House will return to session during the week of November 17, 2008.
“Let the American youth never forget, that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capacity, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence.”
—Joseph Story (Commentaries on the Constitution, 1833)

Conservative Activity
--Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA) asserted that the startling job-loss numbers for October show the need for an economic growth agenda, not the anti-secret-ballot “card check” legislation. Read the full statement here:

--Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and two of his House colleagues sent this letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) marking the 30th anniversary of the ethanol tax credit and calling for an overhaul of federal ethanol policy:

The Money Monitor
Each week in "The Money Monitor," the RSC tracks how the bills passed by the House would affect authorizations, mandatory spending, appropriations, and federal government revenue. Because the House was out of session last week, no new spending was authorized. To view "The Money Monitor" for the week of November 3-7, 2008, which includes year-to-date totals, click here:
