JCCC offers new ‘Basic Audio Production for Theatre’

    OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College is offering a one-semester-only three-hour credit class, Basic Audio Production for Theatre, beginning the spring semester, Jan. 14, 2009.
    The class provides an opportunity to see what goes on backstage during plays, musicals and concerts. Emphasis is on the equipment used to support any size production from community theater to arena shows. This course is for anyone who wants to understand audio systems or work in the sound industry.
     Students will learn acoustics, basic physics of sound, equipment use and terminology and common audio setups for the theater. Emphasis will be placed on vocal reinforcement using wired and wireless microphones, basic front of house mixer set-up and usage, the creation of sound effects, and an introduction to the SFX software package.
