AP: Obscure Kansas law could trip up casino developer
TOPEKA, Kan. - An obscure provision in Kansas law could become a serious obstacle for a company that’s building a state-owned casino near Dodge City, an attorney for the firm said Wednesday.
The provision spells out which officers and investors in companies supplying equipment to casinos must undergo state background checks. It’s strict enough that slot machine firms are wary of supplying the new Boot Hill Casino and Resort, said John Frieden, an attorney representing its developer, Butler National Service Corp., of Olathe.
