Am. Conservative Union: Call Rep. Dennis Moore at (202) 225-2865 and tell him to Vote “NO” on the “CAP and Trade” Bill
From the ACU:
Last week, many thousands of you responded to our call to e-mail your member of congress to express your opposition to the Pelosi/Waxman global warming tax, known as the “cap and trade” bill. It is having an effect. Knowing the bill, H.R. 2454, might be defeated, Speaker Pelosi and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman went to work making even more backroom deals. All signs point to a close vote on Friday, June 26 and your phone call to your member of congress could make the difference.
Many of you sent emails to your Member of Congress - now it is time to call them directly. CallRep. Dennis Moore at (202) 225-2865 and stop the Pelosi/Waxman Global Warming Tax.
For years, Al Gore and his extreme environmental followers, like Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman, have tried to get Congress to pass a bill to reduce energy use in the name of “global warming”. Many honest liberals supported a “carbon tax” that would simply raise the price of coal, oil and natural gas. But Gore, Pelosi and Waxman knew that this honest approach would never pass. So they devised a complicated “cap and trade” scheme. But the scheme has been exposed by an independent study released May 21 by the respected Charles River Associates. They showed that giving “free allowances” to favored companies and “returning revenue to low-income households” will do little to reduce the effects of the bill, namely to increase the costs of most goods and services Americans have to buy. By 2015, the study estimates 2.3 million jobs lost, a lowering of the average annual wage by $170, and a $730 decrease in the average household’s purchasing power. These figures increase dramatically in future years as the bill is fully implemented.
Call Rep. Dennis Moore directly at (202) 225-2865 and urge a “NO” Vote on H.R. 2454 the “CAP and Trade” Bill.
Pelosi and Waxman have gotten as far as they have with this bill by browbeating reluctant Democrats and buying support from some industries by giving away “free” allowances. Pelosi has even refused to allow the tax writing Ways and Means Committee to hold hearings or make changes in the revenue portions of the bill. Even more outrageously, some of the “favored” industries are showing their hand. Duke Energy, a North Carolina-based company headed up by a former Enron executive (Enron helped create the first “cap and trade” scheme) has been lobbying FOR the “cap and trade” bill for over a year. Now they have asked the state utilities commission for a 13.5 percent increase in electric rates. In their filing, Duke Energy cites as one justification the future costs of a cap on greenhouse gas emissions. Duke’s actions expose the hypocrisy of those who claim to support this scheme “to save the planet.”
Act Now! Call Rep. Dennis Moore directly at (202) 225-2865 and urge a “NO” Vote on H.R. 2454 the “CAP and Trade” Bill.
We at the American Conservative Union thank you for all you do to support conservative, free-market principles.
Sincerely,
Larry Hart

Just called the office. I hope many more will call his office. This bill would destroy small business and have long term negative impacts on our economy.

Imagine my frustration watching CSPAN and hearing Moore proudly announce he would be voting FOR HR 2454. One of only 8 republicans who voted for its passage. What a shame!

We must defeat Dennis Moore. He is the worst Congress has to offer…he pretends to be a Moderate when he is here, but is left of Stalin in Washington. He needs to know we are coming for his job.

Dennis Moore’s voting record is nearly parallel to that of Nancy Pelosi and other extreme liberals in the House. Unforunately, many in the Third District have not had time to notice that the good old prosecutor is not looking out for them in Washington in any way. Johnson County Republicans and conservative Democrats MUST follow his vote through 2010 and throw this man out of DC. We work hard here and he’s giving our money away to line his own pockets!!!!!!!!! Follow his record! You will not like it!!!!!!!!

I call upon all Johnson County residents to say, “NO MOORE” in the next election. This congressman has sold all of us down the river for his own personal satisfaction by voting “yes” on porkulus, cap and trade and soon on Obama healthcare. He is tied to Nancy Pelosi’s hip. People should go to all public rallies that Moore attends with signs that say, “NO MOORE”.
